10 QUESTIONS WITH SUPER FAN FEATURING EMMA DAVIS, WRITER/CREATOR OF VIOLET ROSE

With issue #2 being solicated this month in Previews.. Super Fan decided to sit down with Emma to have a one-on-one interview. Emma is one of the youngest published comic book writers ever!

QUESTION1:
SUPER FAN: EMMA, YOU ARE THE YOUNGEST WRITER AT BLUEWATER PRODUCTIONS AND I LOVE VIOLET ROSE. HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
EMMA: I've been writing short stories, and attempts at novels since I was 8 years old. When I was 13 my uncle saw my writing and really liked it, so he asked me to write an 8 page story to go in the back of his comic Isis: The Beginnings. So I wrote Violet Rose. Then about two years later he asked me to write a full length comic about Violet Rose.

QUESTION 2:
SUPER FAN: WHERE DOES YOUR INSPIRATION COME FROM FOR YOUR STORIES?
EMMA: No offense, but honestly this is the question that I hate the most but everybody asks. The ideas just kind of come to you. I just tend to combine things that see, hear, and dream and just force them together into a vast mixing pot of creative juices and hope that I'll think of something that I can work with. You can get issue #1 in stores now and issue #2 will be out in June.

QUESTION 3:
SUPER FAN: A MOUSE IN MY EAR TOLD ME ABOUT A LIBRARY PROJECT THAT YOU
ARE IN CHARGE OF? TELL US ABOUT IT.

EMMA: Not exactly, I'm not in charge of it. It's not really a project either. All it is really, is libraries ask me to speak to the younger kids in there area about Violet Rose, how comics are made, and how to get into the wonderful world of writing. It's more of a combination between meet the fans, lecturing, and self-marketing.

QUESTION 4:
SUPER FAN: HANNAH MONTANNA OR MILEY CIRUS?

EMMA: Niether, I don't watch Disney Channel.

QUESTION 5:
SUPER FAN: WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE WRITER AND WHY?

EMMA: It changes every so often. But, at this moment, I'd have to say Neil Gaiman. He's a great writer with one of the most unique imaginations I've seen in my seventeen years, however short that may be.

QUESTION 6:
SUPER FAN: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FAST FOOD?

EMMA: Um... I guess I'd have to say Burger King French Fries.

QUESTION 7:
SUPER FAN: EMMA DAVIS AND VIOLET ROSE, ARE THEY THE SAME PERSON? IF NOT, WHAT DO THEY HAVE IN COMMON?

EMMA: I guess in a sense they're similar people. Mentally we are very much alike (without the weird psychic powers). We're both a little "left of center" and slightly out of touch with reality but the similarities end there.

QUESTION 8:
SUPER FAN: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE COMIC BOOK AND CHARACTER?

EMMA: I don't actually read comic books. My brother reads comic books though. The closest I have ever gotten to comic books was the Sandman graphic novel by Neil Gaiman
.

QUESTION 9:
SUPER FAN: ARE YOU WORKING ON ANY OTHER PROJECTS?

EMMA: I'm always writing something. Nothing that I publish except on fictionpress.com (it's like fanfiction but for original stories and characters). I also have a tendency to start projects then get bored of them and move on. Right now I'm working on co-writing a horror novel with my friend Katie, writing a couple sci-fi stories, and of course the next installment of Violet Rose.

QUESTION 10:
SUPER FAN: WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AFTER HIGH SCHOOL? COLLEGE, TAKE OVER YOUR UNCLES COMPANY, PURSUE ACTING?

EMMA: After high school, I plan to be an English or History teacher. However, I will always continue to write.
