10 QUESTIONS WITH SUPER FAN
Part 2 of questions from Super Fan. Up next
is Eric Arvin who is writing the new Blackbeard Legacy comic
series. issue #1 is out now!
QUESTION1:
SUPER
FAN: ERIC, CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT BLACKBEARD LEGACY??
ANY UPCOMING SURPRISES?
ERIC: The Blackbeard Legacy is the story of a woman in search
of  treasure,
her father, and her past. Captain Hanna is the daughter of the
infamous pirate Blackbeard. As she journeys the treacherous
seas with her crew she finds the lone survivor of a storm at
sea who may know the whereabouts of a large treasure, is chased
by an angry god, attacked by zombies, and pursued by a vengeful
sea captain.
There are a few surprises coming up in future issues, though
I didn’t intend for them to be viewed as such. They’re
all very true to my personal writing style.
QUESTION
2:
SUPER FAN:DO YOU HAVE ANY TATTOOS?
ERIC: Nope. I have always thought of getting one, but it would
have to be for a special reason. I wouldn’t just go out
and have the Superman emblem emblazoned on my bicep…heehee.

FAN: AS A NOVELIST, WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE NOVEL?
ERIC: I have a few, but I’m rereading my first “favorite
book” A SEPARATE PEACE by John Knowles at the moment;
I also loved IN A SHALLOW GRAVE and NARROW ROOMS, both by James
Purdy, and Jamie O’Neill’s AT SWIM, TWO BOYS. Marion
Zimmer Bradley’s THE MISTS OF AVALON and Geoff Ryman’s
LUST would also be on my list. I respect all of those writers
so much.

SUPER FAN: ARE YOU A MORNING PERSON?
ERIC: Ha! Sooo not a morning person. But I get up anyway.
QUESTION
5:
SUPER FAN: HOW MANY NOVELS HAVE YOU WRITTEN?
ERIC: I have two published novels, THE REST IS ILLUSION and
SUBSURDITY, and an anthology of short stories called SLIGHT
DETAILS & RANDOM EVENTS, all three of which have been nominated
for Lambda Literary Awards. I have other projects I’ve
written but that haven’t been sent anywhere just yet.
I leave that to my hip and funky agents.

SUPER FAN: SPRING, SUMMER, FALL OR WINTER ?
ERIC: I’m a huge fan of fall. The leaves, the breezes
(sigh), just beautiful. Though, because of the heavy snows this
winter I’m very much looking forward to spring.

SUPER FAN: IF YOU COULD BE DESCRIBED AS A DRINK, WHAT
WOULD IT BE?
ERIC: A Day at the Beach.

SUPER FAN: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE COMIC BOOK AND CHARACTER?
ERIC: Hmmm. This is going to sound odd to all you fabulous comic
book fans but I love Patrick Fillion’s naughtier work.
Naked Justice will be my Halloween costume one day, darnit!
QUESTION 9:
SUPER FAN: IF YOU COULD BE A FLY ON THE WALL, WHOSE
WALL WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE ON?
ERIC: Jeff Goldblum’s…just kidding. (I know. Not
even funny, right? But I try.)

SUPER FAN: CIGARETTES OR CIGARS?
ERIC: Neither. I’m a huge health nut.
