10 QUESTIONS WITH SUPER FAN
Here is a new interview with Mick Clausen the
colorist on Insane Jane. The colors on this book are like one
of the characters, if you have not seen this book - issue #1
is out in stores now!
QUESTION1:
SUPER FAN: MICK , HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH “INSANE
JANE”?
MICK: I saw on Deviant art that they were looking for a colorist,
and since I had met Darren a few times at the San Diego Comic
Con, I asked him for a tryout. He sent me a page to do and liked
what he saw.
QUESTION 2:
SUPER FAN:WHAT TECHNIQUE OR MATERIALS, DO YOU LIKE TO
USE?
MICK: I used to airbrush alot when I first started coloring,
would like to get back to that. Also painting, haven't picked
up a paint brush in 10 years. Since I've started computer coloring
that's about all I have time for between my teaching schedule
and my freelance work.The computer is alot quicker.
QUESTION 3:
SUPER FAN: IF YOU COULD MEET SOMEONE DEAD OR ALIVE,
WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
MICK: King Arthur because of his role in the creation of the
Knights of the Roundtable and their code of Chivalry. Chivalry,
I think is something that this world needs a little more of.
QUESTION 4:
SUPER FAN:WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE?
MICK: Equilibrium starring Christian Bale.

SUPER FAN: WHAT’S YOUR ZODIAC SIGN?
MICK: Cancer
QUESTION 6:
SUPER FAN: HOW DID YOU BECOME A COLORIST?
MICK: I attended the San Diego Comic Con back in 87, and showed
around some inks and airbrushed Transformer Covers I did over
the pencils a friend of mine had drawn. Was really looking in
to getting into inking. No luck. Then a few months later I got
a call from a publisher, he was pretty blunt. His actual words
were that I sucked as an inker, but that I had a good color
sense and asked if I had ever thought about coloring. And so....
I got into coloring.
QUESTION 7:
SUPER FAN: WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST VEHICLE?
MICK: My first was a 1973 Honda 350 motorcycle.
